Through his esteemed and prestigious educational background, Dr. Kwon has proven to possess a passion for offering patients the best possible care and outcomes.


Prior to earning his medical degree, Dr. Kwon earned his bachelor’s degree in neurosciences from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he served as president of The Honor Society for Neuroscience during his senior year.

Dr. Kwon earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. He completed his residency and served as chief resident at the University of Washington Department of Surgery in Seattle, where he also completed his senior fellowship and served as an acting instructor at the Center of Videoendoscopic Surgery.

Specialist in minimally invasive surgery

Dr. Kwon’s fellowship training emphasized laparoscopic surgery of the stomach and esophagus, as well as in bariatrics, which ranged from performing anti-reflux surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease to esophagectomy for cancer — all using a minimally invasive approach. This advanced method offers patients fewer complications, less pain after surgery, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recovery times.
