What is the placement process?
01: Swallow
You swallow the Smart Capsule, which contains the deflated balloon attached to a thin catheter, with water. This step takes about 5 minutes.
02: Fill & Confirm
An X-ray confirms the capsule is correctly positioned in the stomach. Dr. Roller fills the balloon with saline through the catheter, and a second X-ray verifies proper placement before the catheter is removed. This step takes about 10 minutes.
03: Pass Naturally
At approximately 16 weeks, the balloon empties and passes naturally through the digestive system. No removal procedure is required.
A Guided Weight Loss Program
Once the Allurion Balloon is placed, you will embark on a 12-month guided program with support from our physician-led care team at Roller Weight Loss & Advanced Surgery. The Allurion Balloon passes naturally at approximately 16 weeks, with no removal procedure needed. Your guided weight loss program continues for the remainder of the 12 months with a personalized diet and exercise plan, supported by the Allurion app, connected scale, and AI-powered coaching to help you track progress and stay on plan.
